The Centre for Mountain Studies (CMS) was established at UHI Perth in August 2000, with the objective of creating a centre of excellence for work in mountain areas within the University of the Highlands and Islands.
With a focus on mountain environments and the people who depend on them, both in Scotland and internationally, the CMS has three main aims:
- Conduct high quality research that contributes to the sustainability of upland and mountain environments and communities
- Facilitate knowledge exchange activities that will engage stakeholders and communities in contemporary upland issues
- Foster a stimulating and supportive environment for learning and development among our taught and postgraduate research students and our research staff
