Christopher A Whatley OBE, FRSE is an Emeritus Professor of Scottish History. Over an academic career of more than 40 years he has worked in further education and at the Universities of St Andrews and Dundee, where he has held several senior management positions, including Vice Principal. Committed to the highest standards in teaching and research, he has been a quality assessor and advisor in many Scottish universities as well as elsewhere in the UK, and overseas.

He is particularly interested in the transformational potential of FE and HE, not least as having left school aged 16 with one ‘O’ grade, he owes his subsequent career to the opportunity he had to return to study at Clydebank College.
