Moving On Access
What is special about this course?
Moving On could be the right course for you if you are facing a challenging transition and would benefit from learning in a small, supported class. The course is aimed at 15–17-year-olds who may have faced challenges at school. Applicants may have had a poor attendance record and need an enhanced transition period before moving into further learning. This is a well-supported course with a Student Development Worker and is based in one area of the college.
There are no formal entry requirements, however you must be willing to work in a group and want to develop your personal and social skills. Taster sessions are offered to interested students in February- May. You may be offered an interview following successful participation in the taster session(s). Applications should be made via the transition officer Samantha Martin. Samantha.Martin.Perth@uhi.ac.uk
You must be able to travel independently or make your own arrangements for travel.

The course has a practical focus on group work and confidence building during Semester 1, including resiliency which aims to develop the skills needed to cope with the demands of college. The course also includes an outdoor programme delivered out with the college campus. This offers opportunities to work with others and enjoy new experiences.
During Semester 2, you will focus on employability skills, have the opportunity to gain work experience and link with other areas of the college/wider community, if appropriate. We will work towards awards in ASDAN, John Muir Awards, and college certificates focussing on teamwork and practical activities.
