Construction - Multiskills NPA
What is special about this course?
The Multi-Skills course is offered on a full-time basis and provides craft vocational training in the chosen trade. Successful applicants will follow the same attendance programme as the industrial apprentices. The National Progression Award (NPA) is a vocational qualification designed to prepare people for employment, for career development or for progression to further study.
Entry requirements
You will be invited to discuss your application with us and must be able to demonstrate the academic ability to work at SCQF Level 3, also known as Access 3. You will be asked to attend an interview and undertake an aptitude test.
In addition to the subjects below, you will also study five core skills, including communication, ICT and numeracy, which can help you to gain the essential skills required for life, learning and employment.
The multi-skills course gives you an introduction to:
- Bricklaying;
- Painting and decorating;
- Carpentry and joinery
- Plumbing
- Roof slating;
- Roof tiling
- Ceramic tiling

Fees
Most full-time students will have their fees paid.
Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.
What can I do on completion of my course?
You may progress to SVQ Level 3 on successful completion of your chosen course and gain relevant employment. This course can lead to NC Built Environment.
On successful completion of your NPA course, you can apply for employment as an apprentice in your chosen trade.
