What is special about this course?
NS2L is designed for young people who are unsure about what route to follow, or need to gain the confidence and qualifications to progress.
Once on this course you will work towards SQA qualifications while gaining valuable experience of college and university life. You will be supported to progress on to further study or employment.
This course will help you gain the confidence to make an informed choice about the next steps you need to take in order to achieve your goals.
Upon completion, this course may be used as an entry programme to other curriculum areas.
This course has a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) and a Student Development Worker (SDW) attached to it who will help you to work on your confidence and any issues you may have in class or that prevent you from attending.
This course has a Learning Mentor attached to subjects where students may need extra support in class to complete coursework correctly.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but you will be invited to discuss your application with a member of the team and must be able to demonstrate the ability to work at SCQF Level 4.
Candidates should ideally possess Core Skills at Level 3 and be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team.
You will also be required to provide a reference.
You must be able to travel independently or make your own arrangements for travel.
The course allows you to work with subject specialists in different areas of the college, for example:
- Construction
- Motor Vehicle
- Art
- Early years
- Computing
- Social Science
You will also study the essential skills needed to progress in education and employment (information technology, numeracy, communication and employability skills) as well as develop a better understanding of the demands and responsibilities of preparing for further study or work.
You will have the opportunity to achieve an NQ Personal and Vocational Skills.
