Social Services: Children and Young People L6 NQ
What is special about this course?
This course provides a theoretical background to working with children, as well as developing practical skills. It relates to care, learning and development of children and takes an overall look at the study of children in early education and childcare settings.
This is a Category 1 PVG course. During the course you will have contact with vulnerable groups of people, therefore to successfully complete the course, you are required to be a member of the PVG Scheme. Entry requirements
You should have four National 5 qualifications including English or have successfully completed the NQ Playwork and Childcare course. You will be invited to discuss your application with a member of College staff.
If you don’t meet our entry requirements, your previous experience and credentials may still qualify you for this course. Please arrange an appointment with a member of College staff to discuss your eligibility.
You will undergo an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check when you commence your course.

Fees
Most full-time students will have their fees paid.
Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.
What can I do on completion of my course?
Study
You may progress onto the HNC Childhood Practice course subject to interview
Career
You can register as a support worker with the Scottish Social Services Council in a variety of early education, childcare and play settings. Once you find work you could go on to further training at SVQ Level 3
