What is special about this course?

Learn while you work with Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs). Modern apprenticeships in Scotland are available for people who are aged over 16 and in employment. With on-the-job training and regular meetings in the workplace you can gain a recognised qualification without studying full-time.  Funding for MAs can be gained from Skills Development Scotland.

If you want to earn and learn, becoming a housekeeping apprentice is a great solution.  Work based learning allows you to develop skills and knowledge and therefore gain a qualification whilst you are working.  Hospitality is one of the fastest growing industries and having the qualifications to be trained in housekeeping will help you become more employable.

Entry requirements

Potential students must be working in a housekeeping environment.

The course is made up of ten units and we will help you navigate your options to fit into your workplace. This qualification gives you a good grounding of the skills and knowledge required from you working in housekeeping.  You may study maintain housekeeping supplies/linen and bed making/room inspection and deep cleaning/chemicals and equipment/cleaning and service. You will also study hygiene, health and safety and team working.

Modern apprentice route: You will also study five core skills (communications, working with others, problem solving, information technology and numeracy), REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene.

Fees

Most full-time students will have their fees paid.

Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.

What can I do on completion of my course?

On completion of the course the student may apply to progress onto SVQ 3 Hospitality Supervision and Leadership, depending on your job role.
