Mind Blowing Artist and Perth College UHI Lecturer Represents Scotland at National Open Art Competition
Perth College UHI Lecturer and Professional Artist, Frank To, whose work has gained international recognition has now been selected for the finals of the National Open Arts Competition.
Frank To describes: "I'm really pleased and honoured to have made it to the final stage of the NOA Competition. It's really important for me to show students that as well as being a lecturer, I'm also a practising artist in my own right. This gives them confidence in my advice and lessons.
“The work that got selected is the result from lecturing at Perth College UHI. Between lessons, I conducted personal research on the gunpowder technique especially in the library. My students whom I teach inspired me to develop the new technique as I see them carving their own methods."
Head of Curriculum for Creative Industries, Lorenz Cairns shares his enthusiasm regarding Frank’s success: “We are absolutely thrilled for Frank! Everyone at Perth College UHI, students and staff, wish him the best of luck. It’s a terrific achievement for Frank and I know that all his students at Perth College UHI will be looking forward to their academic year starting, so that they too can learn from Frank’s experience. To have Frank teaching our future artists’ is a tremendous asset to Perth College alongside a truly gifted delivery team of professionals in the Creative Industries Department which as you can see, is at the forefront of their craft. Good luck Frank!”
