Guest lecture connects ‘town and gown’

An event hosted at Perth College UHI on Monday 6 March, offering an insight into the music and media industry was open to the public, as well as students and staff, connecting Perth’s population and academic community in the ‘town and gown’ event.
Ann Harrison, a specialist music lawyer, author and ‘Women In Music Award’ recipient, shared her experiences working with household names as well as artists just starting out. She counts artists, songwriters, record producers, managers, independent record and publishing companies and booking agents amongst her clients.
Dr Paul Oliver, Perth College UHI Music Business Lecturer explained: “We were delighted to welcome Ann to Perth College UHI. Her best-selling book, is the required textbook on all UK music business courses so she is very influential in her sphere.”
Student Laima Siauruseviciute said: “After reading Ann’s book, she became a role model for me and she showcased all these career opportunities that I never knew existed. I would say this workshop has been the highlight of my coursework this year.”
Student Calum Murdoch added: “I found this workshop inspiring and engaging, it was great to hear about and learn from her years in the industry.”
