Prizegiving Ceremony recognises students’ achievements
Outstanding student achievement at Perth College UHI was recognised and celebrated at a special prizegiving ceremony attended by prize winners, guests and employers on Thursday 8 June.
Over 90 students received prizes in honour of their exceptional success in further education learning from Perth College UHI Principal, Margaret Munckton and Keynote Speaker Ann Gloag.
Margaret said: "Our prizegiving ceremony is a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge our student’s hard work, effort and commitment. Success doesn’t happen overnight and these awards celebrate our prize winner’s determination to gain the skills and knowledge that they require in their professions.
“We know our students have been well-supported to succeed by their families and friends, our dedicated staff and in many cases, through their individual sponsors and employers. It’s an honour to play a part in our student’s life journey and I wish our prize winner’s congratulations and all the very best for the future.”
Keynote speaker Ann Gloag OBE, is co-founder of the international transport company Stagecoach with her brother, Sir Brian Souter, which today has 3 million passengers a day.
Through her support of Mercy Ships - a hospital ship charity providing free aid to the people of West Africa and visits to the fistula clinic in Sierra Leone, Ann became aware of the plight of millions of Africans and became passionate about making a difference.
She is a past winner of the Businesswoman of the Year Award, European Women in Achievement Award and has won a Great Scot Award. In 2004, Ann was awarded an OBE.
