HISA Representatives Bring Festive Cheer
The student representatives of the Highlands and Islands Students’ Association in Perth College UHI have launched an initiative to deliver ‘Winter Wellbeing Packs’ to students staying in the college’s halls of residences over the festive period.
HISA Perth hopes the packs will bring comfort to those students that may have had difficulties travelling home through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and are spending Christmas away from their families and friends.
The packs include a wide selection of items including hand warmers, gloves, stationery, sweets, hot chocolate, emergency contact details, and information on the mental health support available to students.
HISA Perth Vice President of Activities and Welfare, Michaela Asisten, said: “The HISA Perth team are delighted that we have been able to put together these Winter Wellbeing packs, to support our students staying in halls of residences over the holidays. The festive period can be a challenging time for many, and we hope that this initiative helps any students that may be struggling while away from their family and friends.
“The past year has not been easy, but together we have worked with Perth College UHI to maintain the standard of the student experience, delivering increased mental health provisions and more inclusive and accessible events. HISA Perth extends a massive thank you to our local college departments, in particular the Marketing Team, Student Support and the Student Engagement Team, who contributed to the Winter Wellbeing Packs and helped to make this possible. We hope our students enjoy some well-deserved time off and look forward to welcoming them back in the new year.”
Deborah Lally, Head of Student Experience added: “We recognise the holidays can be very challenging for some of our students, even more so after such an uncertain year. It’s great that HISA Perth has created these wellbeing packs - any way in which we can collectively support our students is very much welcomed.
“The Perth College UHI community are working hard to look after our students as best we can and have also collated useful support resources on our wellbeing pages.”
