Students Construct Giant Bridge Puzzle
NC Construction Technician students took on the challenge of identifying, assembling, and labelling the components of a full-scale 20-metre bridge.
Using technical drawings, they carefully determined the location of each piece, placing them precisely as they would be fitted in the final structure.
The activity was expected to last for two days; however, our students were able to do it in half the time.
Daniel Kiraly, Construction Lecturer explained: "I was thoroughly impressed by our students' ability to interpret construction drawings and assemble the bridge independently. Most importantly, they enjoyed the experience. The students are now eagerly awaiting planning permission so they can return and reassemble the bridge at its final location."
Traditionally, the NC Construction Technician students will progress on to our HNC Construction Management programme, where they will have the opportunity of solidifying their knowledge and get industry-specific, site and project management experience through work placements with various employers.
