About this course

The course will enable learners to develop the general and practical skills and knowledge to gain employment in the sport, fitness and recreation sector. Learners will work under supervision in an appropriate sport and recreation environment. 

The course is aimed at learners who are interested in a career within the sport, fitness or recreation sector – and who have Nat 4 qualifications under their belt. 

The course will be delivered by Perth High School PE Department in partnership with UHI Perth lecturers at the Academy of Sport and Wellbeing. The aim will be to make the programme as practical as possible.

There are four mandatory units and these are:

  • Assist with a Component of Activity Sessions
  • Employment Opportunities in the Sport and Recreation Industry
  • Assist with Fitness Programming
  • Assist with Daily Centre Duties

The modules will provide learners with employability skills and will give them an opportunity to work alongside industry professionals
