About this course
About this course
This course develops an understanding of the concepts, approaches, methods and applications of psychology. It will develop your ability to interpret, analyse and evaluate psychological theories, evidence and research methods in a critical way.
Course content
Course content
The central theme of the course is to enable you to investigate psychological knowledge and research and promote your understanding of individual and social behaviour. You will analyse and evaluate concepts and theories and draw on research evidence to explain human behaviour. You will study topics related to individual behaviour and social behaviour, as well as acquire psychological research skills.
The assessment is comprised of an externally assessed research assignment and a final exam.

Open to pupils in S6. Students can gain entry to the higher psychology course (face to face or online) with a pass in N5 Psychology OR 3 N5's in science and/or social science subjects. If you do not meet the entry requirements, we are also happy to conduct an interview to determine suitability.

- Any of the sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
- History
- Maths (Applications of Maths not accepted)
- Modern Studies
- Politics
- Sociology
- RMPS
- English
- Geography
