Guide to recruitment and selection

content

We are committed to equality of opportunity in our recruitment and selection processes and will generally advertise our vacancies externally.

From time to time, for business reasons, we may require to advertise opportunities internally only.

Applications should be made online by completing an online application form, please note we do not accept CV’s speculative or otherwise as a method of application.  Please contact the HR team by email at recruitment.perth@uhi.ac.uk or by phone at 01738 877366, Mon-Fri 9am-4.45pm, if you require an application form and/or job information in large print or alternative format.

UHI Perth is a Disability Confident Committed employer and as such is committed to making adjustments to enable applicants to fully participate in our selection processes.  If you wish to discuss your application needs, please contact the HR team directly at by email recruitment.perth@uhi.ac.uk or by phone at 01738 877366, Mon-Fri 9am-4.45pm.

All employees within UHI Perth will be required to complete a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Record application.  This check will be for regulated work with Children and, depending on the role, work with Protected Adults.  A check will be made against the list of those barred from working with Children and if required, Protected Adults.

UHI Perth will act within Disclosure Scotland's Code of Practice to ensure that:

  • Disclosure information released will be used properly and fairly.
  • Disclosure information is handled and stored appropriately and is kept for only as long as necessary and thereafter disposed of securely.

Regulated work with UHI Perth is exempt from the provisions of Sections 4(2) and 4(3)b of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2003 (as amended).  Applicants for posts involving regulated work are required to disclose criminal convictions at the time of application.  Applicants should note that declaration of a criminal conviction will not preclude employment with UHI Perth and we will apply the terms of our Policy on the Recruitment of Ex-Offenders.

We are required to conduct checks on all prospective staff to ensure they are eligible to work in the UK. Where a work permit is required, this must be obtained prior to the commencement of employment.

Pre-employment medical screening is also a normal part of our selection process. This is co-ordinated through our occupational health provider and applicants should note that UHI Perth does not see any medical detail or information. We will use the information provided by our occupational health service to consider appropriate support and adjustments where reasonable and necessary.
