Prizegiving 2012
High achieving Perth College UHI students’ celebrated at a special prizegiving ceremony held at Perth Racecourse on Friday 8 June.
Over seventy prizes were awarded, in honour of exceptional success in further education learning by Dr Thomas Moore, Principal and Chief Executive and Eve Muirhead, champion curler from Blair Atholl.
Dr Thomas Moore, Principal and Chief Executive said: “As students are at the heart of all we do at Perth College UHI, I’m proud that our dedicated staff and support networks have been able to play an important role in these prize winners’ futures. We are focussed on helping our students to gain high-quality employability skills and qualifications to enter the world of work, with courses relevant to the sector’s or employer’s needs.
“I would like to offer my congratulations to all of our students here today. Each prize winner is a credit to Perth College UHI and they should be proud that their effort and enthusiasm have been recognised and their hard work has paid off.”
Eve Muirhead, four-time world junior curling champion added: “It takes commitment and dedication to reach full potential and it’s an honour to meet the Perth College UHI prizewinners and help celebrate their achievements.”
No stranger to success, Eve, 22, started curling and golfing at the age of 10 at local rinks and clubs, leading on to skipping her own curling team to Scottish and World junior success in Sweden, Canada and Scotland. At the age of 19 she skipped team GB at the Olympic Games in Vancouver, and currently holds the European champion title. Eve is training hard at present for the Winter Olympics 2014.
