Welcome NQ Music
Welcome to the Music and Music Business department and thank you for choosing us. This guide is to help you make the most of the day.
On the day you will play one piece for your audition. You will answer some interview questions based on your personal statement and application form to test your skills and knowledge. All other activities will help us to get to know you better, and for you to get to know us too. The process can last about 1.5 hours. Cafes are located on campus – you're welcome to get a drink before or after and look around. We look forward to meeting you soon.
Audition Information
Please bring a piece that you enjoy playing well and that demonstrates your current ability. We do not ask for any minimum grade but instead will be looking for applicants of great potential who demonstrate they have the commitment and ability to work hard.
In your audition you will be asked to talk about your technical skill on your instrument. This is to help us get to know you. It is not marked but will allow us the opportunity to offer guidance and support.
What to Bring
For your audition please bring the following equipment for your instrument only: drumsticks (Drummers); Guitar or Bass with lead and tuner (Guitarists and Bassists); backing track on a CD or mobile device (Vocalists). Vocalists can choose to accompany themselves on guitar or piano. We have lots of pianos and keyboards for pianists.
