Students success at SkillPLUMB competition
Well done to Kyle and Graeme, two of our Plumbing & Heating SVQ Level 3 Course students, for competing in the Scottish heat of the SkillPLUMB competition at West College Scotland.
The competition is held between all of the Plumbing Colleges in Scotland, with Copper Pipe Work and Lead Work exercises’ split into two separate competitions lasting 4 hours.
Our Copper Pipe Work student was Kyle McGeoghie, a second year student who works for William Combe & Son Plumbing & Heating in Auchterarder. Kyle put in a fantastic performance and his Copper Pipe Work was to a very high standard. As a result, he came second place in the competition! We are also pleased to hear that successful competitors in the copper competition may have a chance of being put forward for the UK Final and if successful in the UK event, they may be nominated for the World Skills competition in Russia.
Our Lead Work student was Graeme McGarey, a third year student who works for John Douglas Plumbing & Heating Ltd in Crieff. Graeme also put in a great performance and produced lead work which was to a very good and consistent standard. Unfortunately for Graeme, he was unlucky and did not place in the competition.
We are so proud of the way Kyle and Graeme conducted themselves during the competition - they were excellent ambassadors for Perth College UHI and their respective employers.
