The Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Star Business Awards held at Crieff Hydro Hotel saw the Marketing Team win the Excellence in Digital Media Award and the Sport and Fitness Team who supported Jack Parr from Macrotrition to win the ‘Young Business Person Award’.
Over in Glasgow, the Business, Management, Computing and Admin Team were Highly Commended for their College Development Network (CDN) Skills Development Award for the Digital Academy initiative which developed students’ digital skills.
Excellent digital expertise secured a win for the Perth College UHI Marketing Team at the glittering Star Awards ceremony. Lisa Findlay, Perth College UHI Marketing Team Leader said: “I’m thrilled my colleagues have been recognised for their hard work and effort by winning the Excellence in Digital Media Award.
“Our entry was titled: ‘Inspirational and authentic content to positively influence student recruitment’. The Marketing Team offered rich content to potential applicants in order to help them decide whether to apply for a course in these uncertain times. Adding our amazing student’s stories; student support, curriculum and campus videos to our platforms has strongly improved our digital media content, accessibility and reach. Following on from this, the fantastic Graduation Ceremony digital and press coverage sent a really positive message about our inspirational and successful students, impacting positively on the reputation of the College.
“We very much enjoy sharing our brilliant student’s unique journeys. We also congratulate alumnus Jack Parr for winning ‘Young Business Person Award’.”
Jack added: “I’m delighted to win this award. I’d like to thank all my family, friends, colleagues and community support, it’s very much appreciated.” A young entrepreneur aged 24, he was originally a Sports and Fitness student at Perth College UHI. He now has a healthy meal prep business in Perth and Kelty.
Jill Elder - SDD for Business, Management, Computing and Leisure said: “We were delighted to be highly commended in the College Development Network (CDN) Skills Development Award for our Digital Academy initiative, in partnership with Perth and Kinross Council. At Perth College UHI we have created a Digital Academy which provides valuable opportunities for the development of digital skills for those furthest from employment. The overarching aim is to develop skills required by our learners to make a contribution to the regional economy. The graduates of the Academy have gone on to secure employment or further skills programmes which is a fantastic outcome. We have a new group of learners in the Academy this year and will have places again in January 2023.
“We are absolutely delighted – it’s a testament to the partnership approach between Perth College UHI and Perth and Kinross Council and our teams who put huge efforts into making the Academy such a success.”
CDN received a record-breaking number of entries this year which highlights the fantastic work of Scotland’s colleges. Congratulations to all the other winners and nominees, including initiatives from UHI Inverness, UHI Inverness, UHI West Highland and UHI Moray.
