Celebration event honours Duke of Edinburgh students

A fantastic celebration event was held on Thursday 16 June 2022 to honour our Skill Up and New Skills students for completing their The Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

Dr Margaret Cook, Perth College UHI Principal, and Kate Somerville, Duke of Edinburgh, were in attendance to present the awards.

Dr Margaret Cook, commented: “The programme is fabulous, and the college are really proud of the students. This is an excellent launchpad for them going forward.”

Tracy Miller, New Opportunities Lecturer, added: “I teach Skill Up on other units and I would usually have the students the day after their Duke of Edinburgh activity. They were always so excited to tell me what they did and if anything funny had happened on the day. It helped them to bond as a class which enriched their learning across all their units.”

One of the students, Ajay Davidson, reflected on his experience: “The physical activities in the gym and paddle boarding were amazing and also the basketball. I also sharpened up my teamwork”
